Calling
Committee Update
Updated August 11, 2009
Dan Uebersetzig - Calling Committee Chair
Well it has been a few months since I've provided a report to you.
I'd like to apologize for not keeping everyone informed, but in our
defense there really was not much to report. We went thru a small slow
period as we were reviewing, editing and re-reviewing the Paper Parish
Profile and completing the necessary sections of the Electronic Profile.
We had a successful "Sunday-Funday" and were able to get some
nice pictures of our congregation which we've used in the Parish Profile.
We submitted the information to the vestry and again after some review
and edits - we finally got to the point where we could provide the needed
information to the Church Deployment Office at the Diocese for posting.
The calling committee would like to thank all those who contributed
to putting those two documents together. Much time and effort was spent
on these key components, and the contributions were much appreciated.
We're happy to report that we officially went "live" with
our search on July 22nd. Woo Hoo.... Now the work in this process really
begins.
Since going live we've met a couple of times with Canon Jenny Vervynck
and the calling committee already has been provided a list of potential
candidates to review. This is a process that is not done quickly - so
there is much work ahead.
We are making arrangements to have a debriefing from another calling
committee in the Diocese which has recently completed their journey
in the calling process. From this meeting we are hoping to further expand
our knowledge and thought processes based the experience (both good
and bad) which they had on their journey.
Please remember - that if you have any comments, concerns or just want
to chat about the work that we are doing -just search us out - our members
are identified by the TARGETS we wear on our name badges. We will do
our best to address your needs.
While we are on this journey we need your thoughts and prayers, so
please continue to offer them.
